Cowl back dress

In the 1930’s the “bare back” craze, with emphasis on the rear of the female dress can be partly attributed to the backless swimsuit and sunbathing craze. Evening and summer wear throughout the period often gave the impression from the back of the wearer being “stripped to the waist” and decoration and embellishments were often reserved for the back view. It is for this reason that the decade has acquired the name “ the Dorsal period”. I specifically made this dress out of more casual fabric and not bare to the waist so I can wear it whenever, but when made out of silk, for example, it could be an awesome evening or wedding dress.
