19. gs. otrajā pusē sievietes sāka piedalīties dažādās sporta aktivitātēs, tādēļ dažas korsetes tika piegrieztas tā, lai atrastos zem krūtīm. Tas korsetes valkātājas rokām un krūšu daļai deva maksimālu kustību brīvību, vienlaikus rodot atbalstu muguras lejas daļai. Šāda veida korsetes visbiežāk tika pielietotas zirgu izjādēs, piedaloties medībās u.c. aktivitātēs. Tomēr pētot vairākas muzejā pieejamās zemkrūšu korsetes un to uzbūvi, vēsturniekiem nācies secināt, ka dažas no zemkrūšu korsetēm veidotas no pārāk smalkiem materiāliem, lai ar tām dotos izjādēs, tādēļ iespējams, ka šīs korsetes tika izmantotas buduāra nolūkos vai kā papildinājums pūram…
Korseti veidoju pēc 1890. gada zemkrūšu korsetes parauga, kas atrodas Hereford muzeja tērpu kolekcijā, taču korsetes dizains pielāgots 21.gs. sievietes vēlmēm un iecerētajām aktivitātēm.
During the second half of the 19th century, women started to participate in various sports activities, so some corsets started to be cut low under the bust to provide a maximum of freedom for the chest area and arm movement while supporting the lower back at the same time. This type of corset was often worn to participate in hunting, horse riding and other sports. While researching original corsets and their construction, historians have been led to believe that some of the underbust corsets in museum collections are too delicate to be used in outdoor sports and they may have been for boudoir use or as a wedding trousseau…
I constructed this corset based on the 1890’s riding corset that’s located in the Costume Collection at Hereford Museum in the U.K. The design is adapted for 21st century women’s needs and activities.
